THE FARM

Black Locust Farm is a 140-acre hill farm in Randolph, VT near Vermont Technical College. It currently holds about 40 acres of pasture and 100 acres of mixed hardwood and soft wood forestry. The land has not been intensively farmed for the last thirty years and is in need of restoration and new life.

The history of the farm follows the general agricultural trends that permeated Vermont's history. Starting from the sheep boom to more recently the dairy production.

The farm was established as a subsistence farm by the Ormwell-Bockway family in the mid to late 1700's. Throughout its history the farm has had many owners and land based enterprises that included a roof shingle production at one time.

We are implementing a mixture of modern holistic farming techniques and a diversified livestock operation to provide high quality, nutrient dense products that improves the local environment.
